About Us

Tony and I were in our early 30’s when we met, fell in love, and began our life together. It seemed we had two of everything. Two houses, two dogs, two vehicles, two coffee makers. . . you get the idea. The first five years of our lives together was a flurry of packing, moving, remodeling, packing, and moving some more. The main result of this is that we could never find what we needed, and ended up buying a third (sometimes fourth!) version of any given item.

Then, in May 2003 we found out we were pregnant – with twins - of course! Two years later, with two storage units full of ‘stuff’ we intend to sort through and sell or donate we faced a dilemma: The soaring prices of auction sites and classified ads made those options cost-prohibitive, and who has time to organize everything for a yard sale with twin toddlers running around? Not to mention, we needed to get rid off stuff now, not stock pile stuff until next summer. When we lamented our predicament with friends and family and they stated that they all had enormous amounts of stuff that they didn’t know what to do with we started thinking, and Moms Classifieds was born.

Mom's Classifieds was created to be a "mom-to-mom", convenient and inexpensive alternative to newspaper classified ads and the big auction websites. With the cost of print advertisements far too expensive and the prevalence of professional sellers dominating the big auction website, we felt there was a need to provide another alternative to individuals, specifically moms, with items to sell. In addition to providing an avenue to getting rid of our own ‘stuff’, we wanted to provide families like ours the convenience of web access, national exposure and the ability to post photos with their classified ads. In addition, we take additional steps to ensure that our customer’s experience is a positive one. We encourage small business and service listings but we reserve the right to disallow professional sellers.

Moms Classifieds is open to Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents - and kids! – with something to buy or sell. As long as it is legal to sell, you’ll probably find what you’re looking for here. You must be 18 to post a listing. We encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in younger children in selling their own used books, toys, or crafts, but they need to do so with the assistance of an adult. It is our personal philosophy that we are put on this earth to do as much good as we can. To that end, we donate a portion of every paid feature ad to breast cancer research.
